It is essential to note that the GCE ‘A’ level exam now emphasizes higher-order thinking skills over lower-order thinking skills such as knowledge and comprehension. To excel in the Economics paper, you must showcase your ability to apply, analyze, synthesize, and evaluate economic principles in your answers. Relying on rote learning or memorization will not be sufficient to achieve the highest level of response. Instead, you need to be able to explain current economic events using the relevant economic principles you have learned, integrate different topics to construct a coherent line of argument, and evaluate the effectiveness and limitations of various economic policies you have studied. Your responses must also flow logically and be clear and concise. The examiners reward quality over quantity of response given in essays. To facilitate this, my lessons not only cover the required concepts of the syllabus but also include real-world economic events and personal anecdotes.
